About The Position

The Shift Leader provides leadership and direction for a Caribou Coffee coffeehouse in partnership with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. During each shift, the Shift Leader ensures the team understands brand standards, expectations, products, cleanliness, new directives, and guest connections. The role includes serving as Manager on Duty, guiding the team through shift priorities, maintaining operating standards, and creating an inclusive, engaging experience for team members and guests. The Shift Leader coaches and trains team members, supports product sales and waste management, and handles administrative work such as bank deposits, inventory, and product orders. Shift Leaders are expected to arrive prepared for scheduled shifts and maintain flexible availability as business needs change. The position is at the Caribou Coffee location at 1949 E 7th St Suite 1, Charlotte, North Carolina 28204.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience in a leadership role, or appropriate training and approval to take on Shift Leader responsibilities.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Maintain flexible availability; different days, times, or shifts may be required as business and operational needs change.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate mastery of every Team Member responsibility with confidence, enthusiasm, and excellence.
Lead shifts with energy, keeping the team engaged and the shift on track.
Optimize product sales while managing waste and maintaining an inviting, well-executed coffeehouse environment.
Understand daily deployment and assigned roles, and communicate clearly on the floor.
Anticipate team needs and competing priorities, and delegate objectives and tasks accordingly.
Take ownership of the current shift and ensure a smooth hand-off to the next shift.
Ensure the team follows standard operating procedures and Caribou standards for quality, cash handling, store safety, and security.
Coach and train team members on role responsibilities, product knowledge, promotions, and recipe preparation, including guest-requested adjustments.
Complete administrative tasks with integrity and follow-through, including bank deposits, inventory, and product orders.
Develop Team Members through coaching and feedback in the moment.
