About The Position

The Shift Leader is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the coffeehouse in partnership with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. During each shift, the Shift Leader ensures the team understands brand standards, expectations, products, cleanliness, new directives, and guest connections. The role includes serving as Manager on Duty, supporting team development, maintaining operational standards, and creating an engaging and inclusive coffeehouse environment. This position is at the Caribou Coffee location at 3155 Hendersonville Road, Fletcher, North Carolina 28732. The role requires flexible availability to work different days, times, or shifts as business and operational needs change. Physical demands include seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting and standing for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These demands may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience in a leadership role, or proper training and approval to take on Shift Leader responsibilities.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Maintain flexible availability; different days, times, or shifts may be required as business and operational needs change.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate mastery of every Team Member responsibility with confidence, enthusiasm, and excellence.
Lead shifts with an active commitment to keeping the team engaged, maintaining positive energy, and keeping the shift on track.
Optimize product sales while managing waste and maintaining an inviting, well-executed coffeehouse environment.
Understand the day’s deployment and assigned roles, and communicate clearly on the floor to keep the shift moving.
Anticipate team needs and competing shift priorities, and delegate objectives and tasks accordingly.
Take ownership of the current shift and ensure a smooth handoff to the next shift.
Ensure the team follows standard operating procedures and Caribou standards for quality, cash handling, store safety, and security.
Coach and train team members on role responsibilities, product knowledge, promotions, and recipe preparation, including adjustments for guest requests.
Complete administrative tasks, including bank deposits, inventory, and product orders, in a timely manner and with integrity.
Develop Team Members by providing coaching and feedback in the moment.
