About The Position

The Shift Leader provides overall leadership and direction for a Caribou Coffee coffeehouse shift in partnership with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. The role ensures the team understands and follows brand standards, expectations, product knowledge, cleanliness requirements, new directives, and guest-connection practices. The Shift Leader serves as Manager on Duty, supports business operations, develops team members, and helps create an inclusive, energetic environment.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience in a leadership role, or proper training and approval to take on Shift Leader responsibilities.
Maintain flexible availability; different days, times, or shifts may be required as business and operational needs change.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate mastery of all Team Member responsibilities.
Lead shifts with energy, keep the team engaged, and ensure the shift stays on track.
Optimize product sales, manage waste, and maintain an inviting, well-executed coffeehouse environment.
Understand daily deployment and roles, and communicate clearly on the floor.
Anticipate competing priorities, delegate tasks, and respond to team needs.
Take ownership of the shift and ensure a smooth hand-off to the next shift.
Ensure standard operating procedures and standards for quality, cash handling, safety, and security are followed.
Coach and train team members on role responsibilities, product knowledge, promotions, and recipe preparation, including guest-request adjustments.
Complete administrative tasks, including bank deposits, inventory, and product orders, accurately and on time.
Develop Team Members through coaching and feedback.
