About The Position

This course will present a history of the development of the urban form of the city, with a focus on Toronto. Coursework will integrate global cities as a comparative model through urban form. Students will explore the distinctive topography of the city; the early patterns of its settlement, and the evolution over time of its successive infrastructures in order to gain a deeper understanding of the complexity of urban form. The estimated course enrollment is 12 students, with no estimated TA support. The class schedule is Wednesday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in a room to be determined. The sessional dates of appointment are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • MArch, MUD, or MLA degree, and/or MA in History or English with demonstrated experience in urban design scholarship.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven record in publishing, writing, and/or research on Urban Design and/or Urbanism.
