About The Position

The University of Toronto Faculty of Information is seeking a Sessional Lecturer for the Winter Term of 2027 (January 2027 - April 2027) to teach MSL2050H - Curating Science. This course introduces students to the fundamentals of scientific thinking and the key issues associated with curating science subject matter, given the significant role science subjects play in the museum field. The course will explore specific examples of science-based museum displays and exhibitions through lectures, workshops, excursions, and conversations with museum professionals. The goal is for students to gain the tools necessary to engage with science and museums at an advanced professional level. The estimated course enrollment is 35 students, with no TA support anticipated. The total estimated hours for the instructor are 75. The class schedule is to be determined. The instructor must be located in geographical proximity to the University premises to perform duties on-site.

Requirements

  • Completed, or nearly completed, PhD degree in an area related to the course OR a Master’s degree plus extensive professional experience in an area related to the course
  • Teaching experience is preferred
  • Must be located in geographical proximity to the applicable University premises in order to attend and perform your duties on University premises as of the Starting Date.
