About The Position

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Science and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning invite applications for an Out-of-Scope Sessional Lecturer to teach community-based courses during the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 Sessions in Pinehouse, SK. The courses offered are ENG 114.3 (E11) Literature and Composition Reading Culture for Term 1 (September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026) and ENG 242.3 (E12) Indigenous Storytelling of the Prairies for Term 2 (January 1, 2027 to April 30, 2027). Both courses will be delivered as live in-person lectures with an expected enrollment limit of 35 students. The course schedule will be determined in consultation with the successful applicant, with standard hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding evenings and weekends without special permission. A valid driver's license is required for any off-campus courses. Appointment periods include additional days for preparation and marking. Courses may be cancelled due to low enrollment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in English or a related discipline and/or possession of relevant teaching or professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to engaging with Indigenous ways of knowing and to fostering respectful, reciprocal learning environments.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture as well as indigenization and the decolonization of pedagogy to uplift and support Indigenous students.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for any off campus courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ENG 114.3 (E11) Literature and Composition Reading Culture during the Fall 2026 session.
  • Teach ENG 242.3 (E12) Indigenous Storytelling of the Prairies during the Winter 2027 session.
  • Determine actual days/times for the course schedule in consultation with the program.
  • Engage with Indigenous ways of knowing and foster respectful, reciprocal learning environments.
  • Uplift and support Indigenous students through indigenization and decolonization of pedagogy.
