About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach ECO227Y1Y Foundations of Econometrics (Section LEC0101). The course is a rigorous introduction to probability and mathematical statistics intended for students in Economics Specialist programs, covering probability and estimation theory, sampling distributions, hypotheses testing, and multiple regression analysis. Students will learn the tools used in economics and finance to model and address randomness and uncertainty. The estimated course enrollment is 120 students, with an estimated 335 hours of TA support contingent upon enrollment and funding. The class schedule is Monday 13:00-15:00 and Wednesday 11:00-13:00. The delivery method is currently in person but may change. The sessional dates of appointment are September 1, 2026 - April 30, 2027.

Requirements

  • PhD in Economics
  • Prior experience teaching this course (or a similar course) at the university level
  • Ability and experience teaching large classes

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course
  • Supervision of teaching assistant(s) assigned to course
  • Preparation, supervision and grading of tests and examinations in accordance with University regulations
