About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach SOC447H5S: Advanced Topics in Criminology, Law and Society. The course will involve an in-depth examination of selected topics in Criminology, Law and Society, with a specific interest in sociological exploration of serial killers/killing for this year. The estimated course enrollment is 50 students, with an estimated 100 hours of TA support. The class schedule is Mondays from 9-11 am. The sessional dates of appointment are from January 1 to April 30, 2027. The minimum stipend for this Half course is $9,997.48, inclusive of vacation pay. This posting is in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Requirements

  • PhD in Sociology or equivalent as demonstrated by refereed/published research
  • Strong academic record
  • Previous experience teaching a similar course
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course
  • Applicants must include a description of the topic and the approach they would take for the course they are proposing.
