About The Position

This course focuses on how we can analyze numerical and categorical data to gain reliable insights into people and social processes. Topics include data tables, graphs, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and inference to a population. The estimated course enrollment is 100, with an estimated TA support of 300 hours. The class schedule is Tuesdays from 1-3pm. The sessional dates of appointment are January 1 - April 30, 2027.

Requirements

  • PhD in Sociology or equivalent as demonstrated by refereed/published research
  • Strong academic record
  • Previous experience teaching a similar course
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams
  • Calculation and submission of grades
  • Holding regular office hours
  • Supervising TAs assigned to course
  • Order all necessary readings
