About The Position

Texas A&M University-Victoria invites applications for the position of Lecturer in English in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The appointment is a nine-month renewable position. Teach undergraduate English composition courses (5/5) face-to-face; hold office hours on campus for a minimum of ten hours per week; participate in campus and community events; perform other duties assigned by the Dean of College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences and Chair of Communication, English, Creative Writing & Publishing. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. The successful candidate will begin employment in fall 2026. The position is based in Victoria, a city of about 60,000 in south Texas.

Requirements

  • MA in English or MFA in writing or related degree by August 15, 2026
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching that supports first-generation, transfer, and academically developing students

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching any of the following: composition, professional/technical writing, creative non-fiction, screenwriting, young adult literature, and/or Hispanic/Latinx literature
  • Experience using inclusive, student-centered teaching practices that support student persistence and success
