About The Position

This position involves teaching SOC263H5F: Social Inequality, a university credit course. The course examines the causes, prevalence, and manifestations of social, political, and economic inequalities, both internationally and within Canada. It analyzes the effects of characteristics such as gender, age, and ethnicity-race cross-culturally and within Canada. The estimated course enrollment is 200 students, with an estimated TA support of 210 hours. The lectures are scheduled for Tuesdays from 3 PM to 5 PM.

Requirements

  • PhD in Sociology or equivalent as demonstrated by refereed/published research.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Previous experience teaching a similar course.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course.

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach a university credit course.
  • Prepare and deliver course content.
  • Develop, administer, and mark assignments, tests, and exams.
  • Calculate and submit grades.
  • Hold regular office hours.
  • Supervise assigned TAs.
  • Order all necessary readings.
