About The Position

Fairbanks Scales is hiring a Scale Technician to install, calibrate, service, and repair scales and weighing systems, from bench scales to truck scales. Technicians help ensure the accuracy and reliability of equipment businesses depend on, while documenting inspection, calibration, and repair work. The role involves customer and teammate interactions and may be highly independent, with technicians traveling between jobs and working in varied industries and environments. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday for eight hours, but technicians may need to work beyond those hours, stay late to finish a job, or occasionally provide weekend assistance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and work well with teammates, sales managers, and customers.
Clean driving record.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B CDL (non-excepted, interstate).
Ability to work beyond the typical Monday-through-Friday, eight-hour schedule, including occasional weekend assistance.
A safety-minded approach, including willingness to speak up to protect oneself, coworkers, and customers.
Self-motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision.

Nice To Haves

Certificate or two-year degree in a technical field.
One to two years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, industrial, electrical, or a similar field.

Responsibilities

Install, calibrate, service, and repair various types of scales and weighing systems.
Document calibration and repair actions by completing inspection checklists and forms accurately and on time.
Provide excellent service while interacting with customers and teammates.
Complete work safely and efficiently, arrive on time, and move to the next job with little supervision.
Occasionally stay late or provide weekend assistance when needed.
