About The Position

The Service Representative (Teller) handles customer cash and deposit transactions, verifies checks and customer account information, balances cash and ATM transactions, and performs related recordkeeping and general ledger work. The role also provides additional banking services, promotes the Bank’s products, works to resolve customer problems, and maintains teller-area records and supplies. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

Requirements

Previous cash-handling experience.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Good mathematical and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Formal teller training at a financial institution.
Three years of experience in a similar job, or an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

Accept cash items and deposits, and complete required regulatory forms and logs.
Verify deposit amounts and examine checks for endorsements.
Enter deposits in customers’ passbooks when applicable, or issue receipts.
Cash checks and pay out money after verifying signatures and customer balances.
Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
Balance cash and ATM transactions daily, if applicable, and process general ledger entries as required.
Order cash to meet daily needs, count incoming cash, and prepare cash for shipment.
Provide additional customer services, including selling domestic exchange, travelers’ checks, money orders, and cashier’s checks; processing loan payments and payoffs; and processing safe-deposit-box payments.
Maintain proper logs for official checks, night depository, and related items.
Promote the Bank’s services and cross-sell its products.
Make concentrated efforts to solve customer problems.
Recommend to the supervisor possible methods to improve department functions.
File signature cards and maintain supplies for the teller area.
