About The Position

As a member of SpartanNash, a food solutions company and part of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, the Service Associate provides service and assistance to guests and helps ensure the shift contributes to the store’s financial best interests. The role includes bagging groceries, carrying purchases to customers’ vehicles, retrieving and organizing shopping carts, performing bottle-return tasks, and completing janitorial and other assigned duties. The associate maintains familiarity with products and their locations, follows safety, food-safety, cleaning, and guest-experience guidelines, and may help in other departments based on customer needs. The position is based at 15900 W. Michigan Ave. in Marshall, Michigan. Work takes place in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

Good oral communication skills.
Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Use appropriate bagging supplies and techniques when handling guests’ purchases.
Empty bottle bins and clean bottle machines and the bottle-return area.
Collect, return, clean, and organize shopping carts.
Carry out and load groceries into customers’ vehicles.
Know the location of products carried in the store.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
Work independently of others.
Perform cleaning duties and other assigned work in a timely manner.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food-safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest-experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer-experience needs.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
