About The Position

Broad River Retail is seeking a Service Apprentice Craftsman to join its Customer Experience team. The role involves providing customer service while assessing and repairing furniture in customers’ homes. The apprentice learns how to repair furniture and determine whether repairs meet showroom-quality standards, with training and development provided. The position is primarily performed in a company vehicle or at a customer’s home.

Requirements

• Previous experience assembling furniture or other goods and/or working in a construction trade, with the ability to use power tools safely and efficiently.
• Product knowledge of various types of furniture and supplies.
• Ability to handle and manipulate products properly.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Basic computer navigation skills, including data entry and internet navigation.
• Knowledge of smartphone use, including taking photos and emailing.
• Excellent customer service and time-management skills, and attention to detail while learning and working with a trainer.
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assess damage and select appropriate repair methods for wood furniture, leather, fabric, marble, and motion upholstery.
• Learn and perform furniture repairs in customers’ homes and determine whether the results meet showroom-quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle, with tools accessible and safely stored.
• Keep accurate records of work performed to support statistical record keeping.
• Provide friendly, helpful, service-oriented customer support while using good judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Perform additional functions assigned at management’s discretion.
