About The Position

The Craftsman performs a wide variety of general maintenance and repair duties, including carpentry, painting, and drywall work, under the general supervision of the Building Superintendent. The position supports the maintenance of municipal buildings, property, and grounds, and follows the established maintenance work order system.

Requirements

• Knowledge of tools and techniques used in general maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of the operation and use of hand and power tools and equipment.
• Ability to interpret work orders, perform heavy labor, and plan and organize work.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Three years of vocational training or job experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance of municipal buildings and property.
• Paint and repair doors, locks, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and similar items.
• Perform electrical work that does not require a licensed electrician, such as replacing cords, fuses, and light fixtures.
• Perform grounds maintenance as needed, including cutting grass and trimming shrubs.
• Comply with maintenance work order system processes.
• Pick up and load materials, supplies, and staging.
• Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
