About The Position

The Banquet Server ensures all guests are served in a friendly and courteous manner using appropriate procedures and in accordance with The Charleston Place standards. The role serves banquets, receptions, and off-premises catering functions, supports event setup and breakdown, and provides attentive service while anticipating guests’ needs.

Requirements

• Understanding of the luxury and quality environment.
• Strong positive attitude and ability to initiate light conversation with guests.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds and push and pull equipment or supplies weighing at least 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly; use hands and arms for handling and reaching; and frequently sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard Banquets equipment.
• Willingness to ride elevators.
• Ability to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
• Clear vision for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing activities, and good hearing for effective communication.
• Ability to work extended periods on one's feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events.

Responsibilities

• Ensure service at banquets, receptions, and off-premises catering functions follows established standards and is consistent, efficient, and courteous.
• Set tables; serve meals, including food and beverages; and clear tables.
• Become thoroughly familiar with event menu items, ingredients, and beverages, and anticipate guests’ needs while delivering exceptional service.
• Assist with function setup and breakdown, and check tables and side stands throughout the shift.
