About The Position

The Server at Binchotan Bar & Grille provides warm, personal, and detailed service in a luxury, upscale, fast-paced restaurant. The restaurant features traditional northern Japanese robatayaki cooking and explores the culinary exchange between Hawaiʻi and Japan. The Server helps create a positive and memorable dining experience by maintaining the restaurant’s cleanliness, setup, and ambiance; knowing food, beverage, and hotel offerings; promptly serving orders to service standards; and personalizing guest interactions. The role also includes promoting food and beverage offerings, completing assigned opening and closing duties, supporting other Food & Beverage outlets when needed, and following food safety, hygiene, fire, and life-safety procedures. Candidates must meet State and Federal requirements for working in Food and Beverage, including Tuberculosis Clearance. Applicants must already be legally eligible to work in the United States; the hotel cannot provide work authorization.

Requirements

• Ability to focus on guest needs and remain calm and courteous at all times.
• Good reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English.
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Detailed and service-oriented, with attention to detail, self-motivation, and energy.
• Provide the necessary State and Federal requirements to work in Food and Beverage, including Tuberculosis Clearance.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States; the hotel cannot assist with obtaining U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak other languages; basic understanding of local languages is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, personal, and detailed service to guests in a luxury, upscale, fast-paced environment.
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness, setup, and ambiance to create a positive first impression.
• Maintain knowledge of food and beverage services, contents, preparation methods, outlets, and hotel services and features.
• Upsell and promote food and beverage offerings to maximize sales revenue.
• Pick up and serve food and beverage orders promptly once ready.
• Remember guests’ names and preferences when possible to provide personalized service.
• Serve all food and beverages according to service standards.
• Clear and tidy tables promptly after guests depart.
• Perform assigned opening and closing side duties and set tables according to standards and procedures.
• Assist other Food & Beverage outlets during peak times or when required.
• Follow hotel food safety and hygiene precautions, including HACCP standards.
• Know and follow hotel fire, life-safety, and emergency procedures.
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management.
