About The Position

The Server at Binchotan Bar & Grille provides personalized dining service in a luxury, upscale, fast-paced restaurant at Fairmont Orchid. The restaurant features traditional northern Japanese robatayaki fireside cooking and draws on the culinary exchange between Hawai‘i and Japan. The role includes preparing the restaurant for guests, taking and serving food and beverage orders, promoting offerings, and maintaining service, cleanliness, food-safety, and hotel-safety standards. The Server may also assist other Food & Beverage outlets during busy periods or when required.

Requirements

Ability to focus on guest needs and remain calm and courteous at all times.
Good reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English.
Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team.
Detailed, service-oriented approach, attention to detail, self-motivation, and energy.
Provide the necessary State and Federal requirements to work in Food and Beverage, including Tuberculosis Clearance.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States; the hotel cannot assist with obtaining U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

Ability to speak other languages; basic understanding of local languages is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Provide warm, personal, detailed service and distinctive dining experiences to guests.
Ensure a positive first impression through cleanliness, restaurant setup, and ambiance control.
Maintain knowledge of Food & Beverage services, menu contents and preparation methods, outlets, and hotel services and features.
Promote and upsell food and beverage offers to maximize sales revenue.
Pick up and serve food and beverage orders promptly once they are ready.
Remember guests’ names and preferences where possible to provide personalized service.
Serve all food and beverages according to service standards.
Clear and tidy tables promptly after guests depart.
Perform assigned opening and closing side duties and set tables according to standards and procedures.
Assist other Food & Beverage outlets during peak periods or when required.
Follow hotel food-safety and hygiene precautions, including HACCP standards.
Know and follow hotel fire, life-safety, and emergency procedures.
Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene.
Perform other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management.
