About The Position

The Server Assistant at Grain, Hilton Norfolk The Main clears, cleans, and resets tables, maintains the cleanliness of the restaurant and floor, and assists servers in accordance with company standards. The role includes completing assigned sidework, ensuring tables are properly set, communicating with the hostess stand and servers about wait times, and helping maintain a safe environment for guests and associates.

Requirements

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Must have basic reading and writing skills necessary for daily functions and training and testing requirements.
• Must have basic communication skills for guest service interactions.
• Must have basic computer skills to use the POSI system for clocking in and out.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
• Must work well with others and be able to work without constant supervision.
• Must be able to follow a documented standard table setup specification.

Nice To Haves

• Some high school, diploma, or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain restaurant cleanliness throughout the shift, especially during peak hours.
• Maintain a clean, neat appearance while wearing the company uniform.
• Keep the assigned station clean and organized throughout the shift.
• Complete assigned opening, running, and closing sidework.
• Ensure proper placement of table settings and silverware.
• Inspect table settings, tabletops, floors, and chairs to ensure they meet company cleanliness standards.
• Communicate with the hostess stand and servers to maintain accurate wait times.
• Reset tables quickly and efficiently to reduce table turnaround time.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the chemical closet, brooms, dustpans, and mops.
• Assist servers as needed.
• Help maintain a safe working environment for guests and associates.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
