Technical SEO Specialist

Qualtrics•Reston, VA
•$91,000 - $110,500•Hybrid

About The Position

Qualtrics is hiring a senior individual contributor to own technical search across a large, multilingual website with thousands of pages. The role is the team’s sole technical SEO function and has end-to-end responsibility for site health, structured data and entity signals, international SEO, AI-assisted search visibility, and the working relationship with web engineering. The specialist will develop an approach to emerging AI-search practices rather than rely on an established playbook, and will set technical standards that other marketing and engineering teams can use. The role works closely with web engineering, web marketing, content, UX, and localization. It combines technical diagnosis and implementation planning with business-impact forecasting, measurement, reporting, and clear communication across technical and marketing audiences. The position offers autonomy over priorities and the opportunity to shape AI-search visibility and broader search or web strategy.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of SEO experience, with most of that time focused on technical SEO.
  • Demonstrated ownership of technical SEO for a large, complex website with thousands of pages or more, multiple templates, and multiple stakeholders.
  • Hands-on fluency with Google Search Console, an enterprise crawler such as Screaming Frog, Botify, or Lumar, and a web analytics platform.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and HTTP sufficient to inspect source, understand rendering, and explain needed changes.
  • Practical command of structured data and schema implementation.
  • Direct experience driving technical work through an engineering team, including writing actionable tickets and specifications.
  • Experience diagnosing and remediating Core Web Vitals and page-performance issues.
  • Evidence of work on AI or generative search visibility, or a clearly articulated point of view on how it changes technical SEO practice.
  • Clear written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical SEO experience in enterprise B2B or SaaS, where conversion is a pipeline event rather than a transaction.
  • International SEO at scale, including hreflang, multi-locale architecture, and collaboration with a localization function.
  • Experience leading SEO through a large site migration, rebrand, or domain consolidation.
  • Log file analysis and comfort querying search data at scale using BigQuery, SQL, or the Search Console API.
  • Scripting for automation and analysis, such as Python.
  • Experience embedding SEO requirements into CMS templates and components so fixes apply at the template level rather than page by page.
  • Familiarity with web engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own crawl and index health, including crawl budget, indexation directives, sitemaps, robots directives, orphaned pages, broken or redirecting internal links, and error remediation.
  • Manage site architecture and internal linking as a system, ensuring authority flows effectively and important pages are prioritized.
  • Monitor Core Web Vitals across page templates, diagnose LCP, INP, and CLS regressions, and prioritize corrective work with engineering.
  • Lead technical SEO for migrations, rebrands, domain consolidations, and content deprecations, including redirect mapping, pre-launch QA, and post-launch monitoring.
  • Own the structured data roadmap, audit coverage, prioritize opportunities, and implement improvements in phases.
  • Build and maintain an entity model connecting the brand, products, people, and content so machines can resolve them unambiguously.
  • Ensure content hierarchy, markup, and metadata communicate page meaning to search engines and AI-answer retrieval systems.
  • Own hreflang, canonical strategy, and localized site structure across languages and regions; diagnose and resolve cross-locale cannibalization and duplication.
  • Develop the approach to visibility in AI-assisted search, including how Qualtrics is found, understood, cited, and represented in AI-generated answers.
  • Set crawler policies for AI and LLM agents, balancing visibility and control, and adapt technical practices as retrieval and citation mechanics change.
  • Partner with web engineering by writing specifications, collaboratively sizing work, and shepherding tasks through the backlog to release.
  • Embed SEO requirements into CMS templates, component libraries, and pre-launch QA checklists.
  • Review new page templates, JavaScript rendering behavior, and site releases before launch.
  • Establish technical SEO standards for web marketing and web engineering partners.
  • Own technical SEO reporting, including changes, value delivered, and next steps; build monitoring to detect regressions early.
  • Forecast the organic impact of proposed technical work and use it to prioritize work.
