Senior UI Engineering Manager - Technical

We are seeking an ambitious and hardworking individual to take on the role of leading all technical aspects of our Flights UI vertical at KAYAK. This position will involve architecting a scalable solution and collaborating with a global team of highly skilled engineers. As the leader of the UI team based in Cambridge and Concord, you will provide hands-on technical mentorship, contribute to the technical roadmap, and ensure the application of the latest technologies and coding standards. Additionally, you will serve as a crucial link between technical and non-technical teams, staying updated with frontend technologies and leading the planning and execution of development efforts.

Lead and directly develop, contribute, and architect our flights vertical

Provide hands-on technical mentorship to a team of frontend engineers, imparting knowledge through guidance, feedback, and active participation in coding efforts

Define, own, and contribute to the technical roadmap, ensuring the application of the latest technologies, coding standards, and tools to improve code quality, maintainability, and scalability

Conduct comprehensive code reviews, encouraging a culture of high-quality coding and further strengthening the technical base of the team

Collaborate with product managers and designers, translating business requirements into technically robust solutions while serving as a crucial link between technical and non-technical teams

Stay updated with the latest frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, advocating for their inclusion when appropriate to ensure the team remains at the forefront of technology

Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of development efforts, including hands-on task assignment and resource allocation, to ensure successful project delivery

Actively participate in technical discussions and provide input on architectural decisions

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar technical discipline
• At least 5 years' experience in frontend development, particularly with proficiency in web technologies and frontend frameworks such as React/Redux and Node
• Proven understanding of software engineering principles, frontend design patterns, and industry best practices
• Understanding of how large commercial websites are scaled and operated
• Experience with scaling technologies, environments, and cloud computing
• Experience in leading a frontend development team
• Strong technical mentorship and leadership skills
• Ability to architect scalable solutions
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams
• Stay updated with the latest frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry trends
• Ability to conduct comprehensive code reviews and maintain high-quality coding standards
