About The Position

Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated Senior Transportation Planner for its Milling division, based in Cambridge, ON. This is a 12-month contract position. P&H Milling is the largest Canadian-owned milling company, producing a variety of flour and cereal products from wheat sourced across Canada. The company operates mills in multiple locations and supplies customers internationally. The Senior Transportation Planner will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient transportation strategies to improve the delivery of flour products. This involves analyzing transportation needs, optimizing routes, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure seamless operations, managing both bulk and palletized deliveries.

Requirements

  • Transportation planning/dispatch experience with private and 3PL fleets in manufacturing or distribution.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in TMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Effective communicator with knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Logistics certification or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning team and provide/organize coverage for all Transportation Planners as needed, including time-off coverage.
  • Monitor on-time pickup and delivery performance for both private and third-party logistics (3PL) fleets.
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize the movement of products from milling facilities to distribution centers and customers.
  • Manage all bulk railcar movements including direct to customer & intercompany.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, warehousing, and production teams to align transportation planning with overall business objectives.
  • Coordinate with third-party logistics providers to ensure cost-effective and efficient transportation solutions.
  • Prepare and present reports on bulk rail performance, including key delivery metrics and efficiency improvements.
