About The Position

TJX Canada is seeking a Transportation Planner, North America for a 12-month contract. This role is crucial for monitoring and supporting the inbound flow of merchandise from vendors to distribution centers across North America. The Transportation Planner will ensure that company service level agreements (SLAs) and purchase order (PO) requirements are met within the necessary timelines, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of supply chain operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, and distribution center operations.
  • Strong understanding of merchandise flow and supply chain processes.
  • Data analysis skills (especially Excel) for reporting and business insights.
  • Ability to identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and present findings clearly.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong customer service orientation and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors daily freight bookings with North American (NA) carriers, including special freight movement (store stock, POE, non-EDI and Shopify freight).
  • Reviews and reports on shipment plans scheduled in the Transportation Management System (TMS) and PO booking systems; communicates status and actions with carriers and Distribution Centers (DC).
  • Ensures continuous inbound merchandise flow between three consolidation centers in the US and Canada.
  • Executes exception shipments by leveraging the Visibility system to review exception reports.
  • Analyzes visibility milestone reporting and operational dashboards to identify and advise on merchandise flow interruptions/issues.
  • Shares findings with internal and external partners on opportunities and risks.
  • Recommends solutions for milestone shipments within defined business rules.
  • Serves as the key contact for carriers and APLL (TMS service provider) on EDI questions and daily exceptions requiring resolution.
  • Prepares monthly carrier performance reports and presents findings to the Logistics operations team.
  • Partners with DCs and carriers to support inbound flow at DC yards, including removing empty trailers and identifying non-compliance deliveries or non-TJX freight.
  • Contributes and participates in logistics optimization projects (TMS, Visibility, etc.).
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements continuous improvement initiatives for North American Inbound operations.
