About The Position

Loancrate is hiring a Senior Technical Product Manager to own a product area end-to-end, working closely with Engineering, Design, customers, Sales, and Customer Success. The role covers product discovery, definition, delivery, and iteration, including turning non-deterministic LLMs into reliable, mission-critical mortgage automation. The product manager will set direction, make scope and tradeoff decisions, and help deliver focused products in a complex, fast-moving domain. The role is customer- and technology-oriented: it involves conducting discovery with mortgage lenders, loan officers, and operations teams; translating customer evidence into a roadmap; prototyping product ideas with AI coding tools; and creating clear product specifications, acceptance criteria, and success metrics. The product manager will also contribute the customer perspective to architecture decisions, shape product positioning and deal cycles with commercial teams, and drive post-launch improvements. The position is remote-first and includes approximately monthly domestic travel to customer sites, with occasional additional trips around key milestones.

Requirements

  • Be comfortable working with complexity, moving quickly, and making decisions amid ambiguity.
  • Have technical depth sufficient to contribute credibly to architecture discussions; examples include software engineering experience, prototyping, or fluency with the systems being built.
  • Be able to work closely with customers and engineers and create clarity in uncertain situations.
  • Produce clear, well-structured written product specifications and communications.
  • Be willing to travel approximately once a month domestically to customer sites, with occasional additional travel around key milestones.

Nice To Haves

  • Software engineering experience or technical depth sufficient to read a codebase, prototype with AI coding tools, and contribute meaningfully to architecture discussions.
  • Fluency with LLM concepts such as prompting, evaluations, retrieval, and fine-tuning, and the judgment to apply them to reliable user-facing products.
  • Experience building B2B SaaS products in a regulated industry such as fintech, insurtech, or healthcare; mortgage or lending experience is a plus.
  • Strong customer research skills, including asking effective questions, synthesizing qualitative signals, and producing actionable insights from direct user exposure.
  • Data fluency, including comfort using dashboards, investigating quantitative data, and forming hypotheses.
  • A track record of shipping in a fast-moving startup environment, managing ambiguity, and making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Exceptional written communication, including clear and concise specifications, documentation, and asynchronous updates.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with engineers and discuss technical tradeoffs credibly.
  • Experience owning product metrics and using them to guide iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for a product area, including discovery, definition, delivery, and iteration, in partnership with Engineering and Design.
  • Define requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and set success criteria for reliable, mission-critical mortgage automation using non-deterministic LLMs.
  • Lead customer discovery with mortgage lenders, loan officers, and operations teams; conduct interviews, investigate workflows, and turn findings into a roadmap grounded in customer evidence, business strategy, and technical feasibility.
  • Prototype and explore product ideas hands-on, using AI coding tools and technical knowledge to validate concepts and provide Engineering with concrete starting points.
  • Write product specifications and acceptance criteria that give Engineering and Design clarity to execute and iterate.
  • Define success metrics for major initiatives and drive post-launch iteration toward desired outcomes.
  • Represent the customer in technical architecture discussions and advocate for tradeoffs that preserve the user experience.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success on product positioning and deal cycles.
  • Make scope decisions and ship focused, well-executed products.
