Senior Technical Product Manager

Proven Software•, MD
•$140 - $170•Remote

About The Position

Proven is hiring a remote Senior Technical Product Manager to own its integrated EHR platform, which includes clinical documentation, scheduling, billing, reporting, and integrations. The role determines what the team builds and in what order, while considering business needs, customer requests, compliance deadlines, technical health, system dependencies, and risk. The product manager is expected to make and explain prioritization decisions, including when work should be deferred. The role works closely with the Chief Software Architect, developers, and Operations to define requirements, assess system-wide impacts, establish testing standards, improve AI-assisted regression testing, and ensure release risks and test results are reviewed and documented. In the first 90 days, the person will learn the platform and its module dependencies, publish a leadership-approved roadmap with explanations for deferred work, and establish requirements and test-case standards for new tickets.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience with complex, multi-module software.
  • Track record of owning a roadmap and defending it under pressure.
  • Strong requirements-writing and test-case-writing skills.
  • Systems-thinking ability, including identifying what else a proposed change affects.
  • Technical depth to work closely with engineers without writing code.
  • Comfort using AI tools and judgment about when not to trust them.
  • Ability to balance product priorities, quality, and risk without creating unnecessary process or slowing delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare IT experience, including EHR, revenue cycle, or behavioral health.
  • Familiarity with ONC certification, HIPAA, or other regulated environments.
  • Experience as an early or first product hire at a growing software company.
  • Prior experience as a business analyst or quality assurance professional is preferred, as indicated by the description of the ideal career path.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap, weighing customer requests, sales commitments, compliance deadlines, and technical health.
  • Push back on requests that do not fit product priorities, explaining the reasoning and tradeoffs.
  • Assess how proposed changes affect clinical, billing, scheduling, permissions, integrations, and customer configurations; identify downstream risks and determine appropriate review and testing.
  • Write developer-ready requirements, including workflows, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and dependencies.
  • Write test cases and user acceptance testing guides to verify features and detect regressions.
  • Establish consistent testing standards and improve AI-assisted regression testing with Operations by identifying coverage gaps and validating results.
  • Ensure testing results, unresolved defects, and material risks are reviewed and documented before release decisions.
  • Partner with the Chief Software Architect and developers on scope, design tradeoffs, and release readiness.
  • Establish a practical risk-review and release-readiness process, including clear testing expectations and documented exceptions.
  • During the first 90 days, learn the platform end to end and map module dependencies; publish a leadership-approved roadmap that explains deferred work; and put requirements and test-case standards in place for every new ticket.
