About The Position

The Senior Technical Account Manager (TAM) is a practitioner-level technical leader responsible for the end-to-end technical relationship with strategic customers operating OT and ICS environments across sectors including energy and utilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, water, and critical infrastructure. The role ensures the cybersecurity platform is properly architected, deployed, and operated in settings where availability and safety are paramount. It requires hands-on industrial experience and the ability to work credibly with controls engineers, plant operations, security teams, and executive leaders. As an Advanced (IC5) individual contributor, the TAM works autonomously, leads complex deployments and escalations, establishes technical standards for the TAM function, and mentors TAMs and customer-facing engineers. The role owns customer technical strategy, advises on OT cybersecurity and compliance, troubleshoots networking and industrial protocols, and collaborates with Product, Engineering, Sales, Account Management, and Support. The position is remote. The stated salary range is $120,000–$145,000.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in technical customer-facing or hands-on engineering roles, with a meaningful portion focused on OT/ICS.
  • Practitioner-level, hands-on experience in industrial environments configuring, supporting, or securing PLCs, HMIs, SCADA/DCS systems, historians, and engineering workstations in live production settings.
  • Deep hands-on experience deploying and operating security controls in OT and IT environments, such as secure remote access, zero-trust network access, privileged access management, network segmentation, firewalls, and OT asset visibility or threat detection.
  • Working knowledge of ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82.
  • Strong practitioner-level networking skills, including TCP/IP, routing and switching, VLANs, subnetting, NAT, firewall policy, VPNs, and packet-level troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and challenge network architecture diagrams and work directly in network gear.
  • Working knowledge of common industrial protocols, including Modbus, DNP3, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and OPC UA, and how they behave across segmented networks.
  • Proven track record as the lead technical owner for large enterprise or critical infrastructure accounts in regulated, mission-critical environments.
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical risk to controls engineers, security teams, and executives.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, prioritize across a demanding portfolio, and exercise sound judgment about when and how to escalate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an OT/ICS cybersecurity company, such as an OT secure remote access, OT asset visibility and threat detection, or industrial network security vendor.
  • Background in a plant, utility, or industrial operations environment, or with a system integrator or automation OEM.
  • Relevant certifications such as GICSP, GRID, GCIP, ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert, CISSP, CCNP, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with identity and access technologies such as SAML/OIDC, Active Directory/Entra ID, and MFA.
  • Familiarity with virtualization or cloud platforms such as VMware, Azure, and AWS.
  • Experience in a SaaS or high-growth startup environment.
  • Eligibility for or experience working in environments requiring U.S. security clearance or background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technical owner for a portfolio of large enterprise and critical infrastructure customers, including multi-site and multi-region deployments.
  • Build trusted-advisor relationships with OT/controls engineering, plant operations, IT/network teams, security operations, and executive leadership.
  • Develop and maintain documented knowledge of each customer’s OT architecture, asset inventory, network topology, vendor ecosystem, and risk posture.
  • Lead executive business reviews and technical roadmap sessions connecting platform adoption to measurable risk reduction and operational outcomes.
  • Design and validate deployments aligned to the Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture and ISA/IEC 62443 zones and conduits, including industrial DMZ placements.
  • Guide deployments involving PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, historians, engineering workstations, and safety systems.
  • Plan and execute changes within customer change-management, maintenance-window, and management-of-change processes while avoiding unplanned operational impact.
  • Advise on secure third-party and vendor remote access, privileged access, and zero-trust architectures for OT.
  • Act as the final technical escalation point for complex issues across network, identity, security, and platform layers.
  • Troubleshoot at the packet level and across routing, switching, VLANs, NAT, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, and certificate/PKI issues.
  • Diagnose industrial protocol behavior and understand the effects of security controls on those protocols.
  • Lead root-cause analyses and incident post-mortems, and drive durable fixes with Support, Engineering, and customers.
  • Advise customers on OT security program maturity, segmentation, access control, monitoring, and incident-response readiness.
  • Help customers map platform capabilities to relevant frameworks, regulations, and guidance.
  • Track the ICS threat landscape and translate it into practical customer recommendations.
  • Support customer audits, assessments, and security questionnaires with accurate technical detail.
  • Represent customer needs to Product and Engineering through structured, prioritized field insights and requirements grounded in OT use cases.
  • Partner with Sales and Account Management as the lead technical voice for renewals, expansions, and complex upsells.
  • Author and maintain reference architectures, deployment playbooks, runbooks, and best-practice guides for TAM and Support teams.
  • Mentor and coach TAMs and customer-facing engineers and help raise the technical standards of the function.
