About The Position

The Senior Systems Engineer combines requirements engineering, systems thinking, and hands-on validation and verification. The role translates customer or system needs into clear, testable requirements, works with development teams during implementation, and demonstrates through objective validation and verification that completed solutions meet those requirements. It focuses primarily on requirements engineering, validation and verification, systems integration, and product quality rather than software development, though programming is valuable, particularly for test automation.

The position designs, develops, integrates, monitors, and maintains systems infrastructure spanning hardware, software, operating systems, and network components. It supports reliable, secure, high-performing systems, investigates complex issues, develops automation, maintains technical documentation, and manages backup and recovery procedures. The engineer also serves as a technical interface for customers and internal teams and leads engineering projects in accordance with quality procedures and performance expectations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 5–7 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience developing, documenting, reviewing, or managing technical requirements.
• Experience with software and/or system validation and verification.
• Experience developing and executing test plans and test cases.
• Experience validating embedded systems, HMI applications, controls, or similar electronic systems.
• Familiarity with software development and testing processes.
• Experience troubleshooting complex system and software issues.
• Familiarity with test automation and scripting, preferably Python.
• Familiarity with embedded software algorithms, controls, and electronic systems.
• Strong technical documentation skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining a strong focus on quality and process compliance.
• Experience with HMI or embedded display systems.
• Experience with requirements-to-test traceability and verification of requirements.
• Knowledge of test automation tools and Python scripting.
• Knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu or Debian.
• Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, C++, or related technologies.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as J1939, Data Link, and Modbus.
• Familiarity with diagnostic and validation tools such as ET, CANalyzer, CANape, CADET, ModSim, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with FMEA and structured risk-management processes.
• Ability to analyze data using Excel, Python, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Change Request Management (CRM), New Product Introduction (NPI), and Continuous Product/Process Improvement (CPI) processes.
• Experience working with distributed or global engineering teams and external suppliers.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain systems infrastructure, including hardware, software, operating systems, and network components.
• Implement system enhancements to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Analyze, modify, test, and maintain systems to ensure stable operations and support business needs.
• Lead system configuration and integration activities, ensuring compatibility across platforms and environments.
• Monitor and support installed systems, proactively ensuring high availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex system and network issues, providing advanced-level support and root-cause analysis.
• Develop automation scripts to streamline operations, reduce manual work, and support data collection.
• Maintain system documentation, including installation guides, configuration notes, and change logs.
• Manage backups and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and disaster readiness.
• Ensure system security through access controls, firewalls, patches, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems and lead design improvements after release.
• Act as a technical interface with customers and internal teams, providing analysis, support, and communication on system requirements and issues.
• Lead engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality procedures, timelines, and performance expectations.
• Contribute to moderately complex project aspects, working independently and collaboratively.
• Translate customer or system needs into well-defined, testable requirements and work with development teams during implementation.
• Perform requirements engineering, systems integration, validation, verification, and product quality activities.
