About The Position

The Senior Systems Engineer is a senior individual contributor and technical anchor on a small Systems and Network team. The role owns and improves core infrastructure in a large, regulated hybrid environment, including on-premises VMware, Windows and Linux servers, identity services, enterprise patching, backup and disaster recovery, and related IT general controls. The position supports a publicly traded financial-services business and helps modernize infrastructure while maintaining stable, secure, and audit-ready operations. The role owns the on-premises server platforms, Active Directory and identity services, enterprise patching, and the backup platform. It is the systems-side owner of IT general controls that depend on these platforms. The cloud platform team owns Azure itself; this role builds, patches, and supports Windows and Linux virtual machines hosted there according to that team's standards. Information Security owns security tooling, vulnerability management, and audit findings, while this role serves as its primary engineering partner for server-estate remediation. The position also administers Microsoft 365, email security, and managed file transfer, and provides backup support for enterprise switching, firewall, and SD-WAN. It uses automation to reduce repetitive work, improve consistency, and address infrastructure backlogs. The role is based at Corporate Headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina, in an office environment with hybrid flexibility, a shared on-call rotation, and occasional travel as needed.

  • Use PowerShell, Bash, and Python to automate provisioning, patching, backup validation, and reporting.
  • Develop golden images and templates to reduce configuration drift, with strong monitoring and alerting.

  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot agents and server-side infrastructure for endpoint protection, vulnerability management, file-integrity monitoring, inventory, and patch management tools, in partnership with Information Security.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and the email security platform.
  • Administer the managed file transfer platform, including workflows, partner connections, certificates and keys, and monitoring.
