Sr. Supply Chain Systems Architect

Nextpower•Fremont, CA
•$200,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Own the architecture of the systems that plan, source, make, move, and fulfill products, ensuring they work together as a coherent landscape. This is a hands-on senior role with enterprise influence, partnering with Supply Chain, Operations, Sourcing, Logistics, and Planning and collaborating across functions such as Engineering and Finance. The architect translates business operations into target-state architecture and, with the IT delivery team, is accountable for building it at an accelerated pace. The role spans end-to-end supply chain processes, including planning, sourcing, manufacturing, inventory and transportation, fulfillment and returns, master data, financial controls, and supply chain analytics and risk. It owns integration patterns and master data across ERP, PLM, planning, WMS/TMS, and supplier portals, including the PLM-to-ERP handoff. The architect also develops a multi-year roadmap to rationalize applications, sequence migrations, make build/buy/retire decisions, and onboard acquired businesses. Nextpower describes itself as a clean-energy technology company serving utility-scale power plants. The role’s annual salary range is $200,000–$220,000 and it is eligible for bonus and equity as part of total compensation. Pay may vary based on market location, experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in supply chain technology, including 5+ years as an architect or technical lead on multi-system landscapes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Deep, practical understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes and the credibility to hold design conversations with supply chain leaders and process owners.
  • Hands-on knowledge of BOM and engineering-change management, multi-echelon inventory, constrained supply and allocation, supplier collaboration, landed cost, and trade compliance.
  • Understanding of how process decisions drive system design, including how planning cadence, lead-time and safety-stock policy, and sourcing rules shape data models and integrations.
  • Architecture experience across ERP, PLM, planning, and WMS/TMS platforms; examples include Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM, SAP, Blue Yonder, and Kinaxis.
  • Strong integration and data architecture knowledge, including APIs, event-driven patterns, iPaaS/EDI, and master data governance.
  • Experience leading architecture through a major transformation such as an ERP migration, platform consolidation, or post-acquisition integration.
  • Proven experience with emerging supply chain technologies such as AI/ML-driven planning and forecasting, control towers and digital twins, intelligent automation, and composable cloud-native architectures; sound judgment about production readiness versus hype.
  • Ability to explain architecture trade-offs clearly to supply chain executives and engineers and collaborate across functions to influence outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience unifying an acquisition-built portfolio under a shared architecture, including PLM-to-ERP and procurement consolidation.
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Computer Science, or an MBA.
  • TOGAF or ASCM (CSCP/CPIM) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Work with supply chain stakeholders and the IT delivery team to understand current operations, assess gaps and pain points, and define future architecture.
  • Analyze end-to-end supply chain flows and identify system boundaries, handoffs, or data gaps that create cost, delay, or risk.
  • Design processes and systems together; challenge legacy workarounds and simplify or standardize processes before automating them.
  • Drive delivery of architectural patterns and improvements with technical teams, identify quick wins, and ensure solutions fit the overall architecture.
  • Advise on and pilot emerging technology to address supply chain problems.
  • Design resilience, security, SOX controls, and trade-compliance controls into the architecture.
  • Own integration patterns and master data across ERP, PLM, planning, WMS/TMS, and supplier portals, including the PLM-to-ERP handoff.
  • Build the multi-year roadmap, rationalize overlapping applications, sequence migrations, make build/buy/retire decisions, and onboard acquired businesses.
  • Design systems supporting planning processes such as demand planning, S&OP/IBP, supply planning, MPS/MRP, capacity and constraint management, and allocation.
  • Design systems supporting sourcing, supplier onboarding and collaboration, contracts and pricing, RFQs and sourcing events, requisitions, orders, and supplier performance.
  • Design systems supporting manufacturing, including BOMs and routings, engineering change control, work orders, contract-manufacturer execution, quality, and shop-floor visibility.
  • Design systems supporting inventory, costing, warehousing, transportation, freight, import/export, trade compliance, and landed cost.
  • Design systems supporting order management, available-to-promise, shipment and delivery, returns, warranty, and spares.
  • Address cross-functional needs including item and supplier master data, financial close and controls, and supply chain analytics and risk.
  • Explain architecture trade-offs to supply chain executives and engineers and collaborate across functions to influence outcomes.
