Sr. Solutions Engineer (Remote)
About The Position
Infotech is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to deliver and maintain scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions while providing technical assistance and customer service. As part of the Hosting and Technical Services team, the engineer supports software implementations—including installations, upgrades, configurations, and data migrations—for customers and internal development, testing, and support environments. The role builds and maintains Windows-based cloud environments on Amazon Web Services and bridges customer-installed software with software as a service. It also involves recommending and delivering technical solutions, developing custom reports and interfaces, and training customers. The engineer deploys AASHTOWare products with Infotech services on AWS and maintains environments for cost efficiency, availability, reliability, performance, privacy, and security. The role includes participation in migration projects, technical support across departments, documentation, and ongoing improvement of processes, services, and products. The position is eligible for fully remote work within the United States, with a preference for candidates in Gainesville, Florida.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience requiring technical troubleshooting and problem solving, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- Strong Windows Server administration experience, including IIS and Active Directory management; PowerShell skills are especially valuable.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD.
- Basic database administration knowledge.
- In-depth SQL experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server for querying complex data, including familiarity with views, synonyms, triggers, stored procedures, and database links.
- Experience working with cloud environments and configuration automation, particularly AWS.
- Experience providing technical training.
- Windows Server administration with strong IIS experience.
- DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
- SQL with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
- AWS.
- Scripting with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with installations, upgrades, application configurations, and data migrations for AASHTOWare products and services.
- Manage multiple concurrent tasks, prioritizing work by importance and deadline, and participate in migration paths from on-premises systems to AWS and from EC2 to containers.
- Deploy AASHTOWare products with Infotech services on AWS and maintain environments for cost efficiency, availability, reliability, and performance.
- Respond to alerts and resolve issues quickly, including occasional after-hours maintenance and on-call troubleshooting.
- Help ensure privacy and security across services and accounts, adhering to NIST 800-53 and GovRAMP controls as applicable.
- Provide technical assistance to Infotech Development, Support, and QA departments.
- Deliver technical training on AASHTOWare products to new and existing customers.
- Create technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
- Identify opportunities and share ideas to improve processes, services, and products.
