About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer on Databricks’ IT Digital Employee Experience team builds and maintains internal tools, platforms, and data systems that support employees across the company. The role includes production web and mobile applications, data pipelines that ingest information from SaaS systems, and AI-powered integrations that reduce friction in internal workflows. The engineer owns projects end-to-end, including architecture, design, implementation, deployment, and stakeholder management. The position also leads software engineers, mentors contractors and junior engineers, and drives roadmap planning with minimal management oversight. It works closely with teams across Security, Legal, HR, Finance, and Engineering to define requirements, weigh technical trade-offs, and deliver solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of production software development experience, with demonstrated full-stack proficiency across backend, frontend, and data.
  • Strong experience with Python as a primary language and production experience building full-stack applications.
  • Experience designing and deploying applications on cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
  • Hands-on data engineering experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with structured and semi-structured data.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevOps practices, such as GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Docker.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms or service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience with security and systems handling sensitive data, including identity management, access control, and RBAC/RLS patterns.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing clear design documents, presenting to cross-functional stakeholders, and explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with AI/ML tooling, LLM integrations, prompt engineering, evaluations, and MCP servers.
  • Experience mentoring other engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Databricks platform, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Databricks Apps, or Workflows.

  • Experience with SaaS management, procurement systems, or IT operations tooling.
  • Background in data governance, schema design, access control, and data quality monitoring.
  • Experience working with distributed teams across time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production full-stack web and mobile applications used company-wide, including procurement platforms, employee experience apps, SaaS management tools, and leadership mobile apps.
  • Build and own data pipelines that ingest, transform, and serve data from SaaS systems into Databricks, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Architect and implement authentication and authorization flows using Okta, OAuth, and service principals.
  • Build and deploy MCPs that connect internal tools to AI assistants, and contribute to AI-powered features such as LLM-based classification, data enrichment, and prompt-based guardrails.
  • Design and manage CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and deployment automation using GitHub, HashiCorp Vault, and Databricks tooling.
  • Improve and enforce software engineering standards, including PR review processes, testing frameworks, and development, staging, and production environment management.
  • Work with stakeholders across Security, Legal, HR, Finance, and Engineering to gather requirements, navigate trade-offs, and deliver solutions.
  • Author design documents, PRDs, and architecture proposals for new systems and features.
  • Mentor contractors and junior engineers, delegate work, break down roadmap items, and drive project planning with minimal management oversight.
  • Drive roadmap planning by identifying high-impact work and autonomously sequencing it.
