About the position
PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team and be responsible for a number of microservices. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing distributed and highly available systems. The Senior Software Engineer will be involved in designing, coding, testing, and shipping APIs and backend applications to deliver secure and scalable solutions to customers. They will also be responsible for participating in the team's on-call rotation and addressing production issues.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and ship APIs, backend applications, and microservices to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions to customers.
- Plan and run experiments to stress test systems and identify weaknesses for proactive fixing.
- Solve technical challenges and scale the product to meet growing demand.
- Work with various systems, processes, and technologies to develop solutions for customer problems.
- Participate in on-call rotation to address production issues.
- Have 7+ years of experience with modern programming languages.
- Experience with data platforms and pipelines, specifically with Kafka or similar technologies.
- Previous team lead or mentorship experience.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Flink and web-based systems involving real-time data.

Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Elixir, Scala, etc.
- Experience with data platforms and pipelines - with Kafka or something similar
- Previous team lead or mentorship experience
- Experience with Flink
- Have significant development experience working on customer-facing and web-based systems involving real-time data
