About the position
PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Platform team. The role involves leading the company through a strategic transformation from a product to a platform, collaborating with product development teams and customers to build new products and enhance platform flexibility. The ideal candidate should have strong backend experience and be willing to learn and use NodeJS. The role includes designing, coding, testing, and shipping backend services and APIs, collaborating with engineers across teams, owning and shepherding projects, and creating alignment among stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and ship backend services and APIs to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions to customers.
- Collaborate closely with engineers across teams.
- Own and shepherd projects undertaken by the team.
- Create alignment among stakeholders regarding recommended technical direction.
- Learn and use NodeJS on the backend.
- Be a self-starter and willing to learn independently and ship immediately.
- Have experience with distributed systems.
- Have experience with Typescript.
- Have experience with API design.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience with backend engineering using a modern framework like Java, C#, Elixir, Python, NodeJS, Rails, or Django
- Experience working with a relational database (ex: SQL, ORM’s)
- Willingness to learn NodeJS on the backend
- Self starter and willing to learn on your own and ship right away
- Distributed systems experience
- Typescript experience
- API design experience
