About the position
Virtru is a leading data protection provider that is committed to changing the rules for data privacy. They equip their customers with the tools to take control of their data through end-to-end encryption. They are looking for a software engineer who will collaborate with product management and other teams to design and develop new software solutions. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of software design patterns and be comfortable learning and developing with multiple lower-level languages. They should also have a passion for delivering customer value and impact.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product management, UX, and other engineers to design, develop, test, and deliver new software solutions to market
- Stay on top of technology trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and sharing what you’ve learned with others
- Coach and mentor other members of the technical teams
- Building software that will meaningfully impact how people approach data privacy
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment where you'll touch a variety of projects and products
- Comfortable learning and developing with multiple lower level languages to build reliable, scalable background services
- Take ownership of the entire lifecycle and toolchain of an application from code to deployment
- Produce in an IDE VS Code development environment
- Strong demonstrable understanding of software design patterns
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Motivated by delivering customer value and impact
- 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following languages: C, C++, or C#
- 2+ years experience with Microsoft Windows service development
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Thinking outside of the box to respectfully challenge your teammates and managers in the pursuit of excellence
- Strong sense of urgency with an action-oriented mindset
- Able to collaborate and adapt to shifting priorities as business needs evolve
- Comfortable with asynchronous communication including slack, email, zoom, etc.
Requirements

- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong demonstrable understanding of software design patterns
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Motivated by delivering customer value and impact
- 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following languages: C, C++, or C#
- 2+ years experience with Microsoft Windows service development
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
