About The Position

Remitly is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for its High Value Send Experience team. The role builds systems that earn the trust of customers making large cross-border transfers for important financial milestones. It spans customer-facing web and mobile experiences and close partnership with foundational teams, including identity and trust, money movement, and pricing. The engineer works with product, design, analytics, and engineering peers to define and deliver trusted experiences for high-value senders.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
7+ years of professional software development experience, including building and operating systems end to end.
Experience building customer-facing experiences at product scale with TypeScript, React, and native mobile development (iOS/Android or React Native).
Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python, with a record of delivering production-quality code.
Use of AI tools in a software development workflow, including authoring agents, drafting and iterating on technical specifications, or prototyping or validating concepts using Claude Code.
Demonstrated experience designing and building distributed, large-scale systems, with an understanding of service-oriented or microservices architecture.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including familiarity with managed services.

Experience in FinTech, payments, or other regulated industries where reliability, security, and compliance shape engineering decisions.

Responsibilities

Use customer signals, product judgment, and data to inform technical decisions and translate high-value senders’ needs into effective systems.
Lead technical design and architecture for complex systems, turning ambiguous, greenfield problems into clear strategies and measurable outcomes.
Build and operate reliable, observable, scalable systems across web, mobile, and backend services that meet availability and latency SLOs.
Use AI in the software development workflow, including tools and agents that increase development leverage and support drafting, iterating on technical specifications, and prototyping or validating concepts.
Partner with product, design, analytics, and partner engineering teams to turn goals into scalable technical solutions for a diverse global customer base.
Mentor teammates, lead technical discussions, provide meaningful code review feedback, and advocate for strong coding, testing, and system-design practices.
