[US DC] Senior Safety Specialist

About The Position

Factor, a brand of HelloFresh, is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Specialist to lead workplace safety initiatives at a distribution center in partnership with the Manager of Safety and Loss Prevention. The role is based on the front lines of production and focuses on promoting safety, improving performance, and building a strong safety culture. The specialist provides expertise in environmental management, compliance, occupational safety, risk management, and occupational health; supports site safety and security; and works with operations and other departments to improve processes and results.

Requirements

At least 3 years of occupational safety experience, with knowledge of manufacturing or industrial EHS.
Expertise in OSHA compliance, especially powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, and strain and sprain prevention.
Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and Google applications such as Gmail, Drive, and Sheets.
A bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or Environmental Health & Safety is preferred; a high school diploma with 4 or more years of EHS experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Ensure OSHA compliance at a HelloFresh/Green Chef facility, including powered industrial trucks, new-hire and ongoing safety training, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, chemical safety, and required recordkeeping and reporting such as OSHA 300 Logs.
Assist the management team with accident and injury investigations and root-cause analysis.
Serve as the management team’s subject matter expert for safety and security questions.
Promote visibility of site-level HSE initiatives, assess safety meeting effectiveness, mentor facilitators, analyze safety and injury trends, and recommend improvements and corrective actions.
Ensure contractors and visitors follow site safety policies.
Assist with the site emergency action plan and liaise with local first responders when needed.
Conduct Job Safety Analyses of routine and non-routine tasks performed on-site.
Promote safer forklift operations through training, observation, and coaching.
Develop training materials, including toolbox talks and standard operating procedures.
Manage the relationship with site security and ensure security services are provided for the distribution center.
Assist with inventory shrinkage and other deliberate damage or product theft investigations as needed.
Support other departments, including quality, food safety, production, and logistics, as needed.
Use continuous improvement principles to identify ways to improve processes and results.
Work with integrity and prioritize the safety and health of HelloFresh employees.
