Senior Project Manager, HR Systems Transformation

The PMO Squad•Atlanta, GA
•Remote

About The Position

A senior program leader will take ownership of an ongoing, high-investment HR systems transformation at a large global enterprise. The program is visible to senior executives and spans connected systems and teams across the organization. The leader will set direction, bring structure to the existing project team, establish governance, and guide the work toward completion while maintaining executive confidence and accountability across functions. The program uses a stage-gated, PMI-aligned lifecycle, with onboarding on the client’s methodology. The work is remote, with occasional travel, and involves collaboration across a large, matrixed organization. Strong performance may lead to an extension or follow-on work. A pre-employment background check and drug test are required through the client’s preferred partners; screening is completed before the start date and only after an offer has been made.

Requirements

  • Senior program or project leadership experience on complex, enterprise-scale transformations.
  • Executive presence and experience briefing and influencing senior executives while maintaining their confidence under pressure.
  • Experience establishing program governance and running steering committees.
  • Track record of driving accountability across functions through influence rather than authority.
  • Experience working across multiple teams to support system integrations and manage interdependencies.
  • Delivery experience in waterfall or stage-gated environments.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • HR system implementation experience; PeopleSoft is preferred, and Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or Oracle HCM experience is also valued.
  • Experience with HR, payroll, training, or onboarding integrations.
  • HR data migration or reclassification experience.
  • Organizational change management experience.
  • Exposure to Agile delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of an HR systems transformation already in progress and set a clear path to completion.
  • Establish and run program governance, including steering committee schedules, decision frameworks, and escalation paths.
  • Brief senior executives on status, risks, trade-offs, and needed decisions; prepare concise executive briefings with recommendations for next steps.
  • Drive accountability across teams that are not directly managed and resolve competing priorities.
  • Work across HR, payroll, IT, and business teams to support integrations with connected systems and manage dependencies.
  • Guide the program through a stage-gated, PMI-aligned lifecycle and its gate reviews.
  • Partner with HR business partners on change impact so stakeholders remain confident in the rollout.
  • Provide leadership and structure to the existing project team.
