Sr. Product Manager

Hipcamp
•$140,000 - $180,000•Remote

About The Position

Hipcamp is hiring two Senior Product Managers to join its product team, supporting either the camper experience—how people discover and book outdoor trips—or the host experience—how landowners open their land to camping and earn income. Each Product Manager will lead a dedicated cross-functional pod of engineering, design, and data partners, own the roadmap for their area, and be accountable for results. The role emphasizes close engagement with users, data-informed decisions, fast execution, and using AI as part of day-to-day work. The Senior Product Manager will set priorities aligned with company strategy, lead planning and backlog management, gather insights from users and research, define goals and metrics, run experiments, and use results to guide product decisions. They will partner across Marketing, Growth, Host Success, Supply Operations, and Support, and coordinate with other Product Managers to improve both sides of the marketplace. Hipcamp is a work-from-anywhere team that meets in person with key teammates two to four times per year. Compensation includes salary and stock options, with compensation levels based on location.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience, ideally at a consumer or marketplace company.
  • Experience at a startup or scale-up owning a product area end to end without a large Product Management organization.
  • Strong product sense and judgment, with the ability to turn user needs and data into clear decisions about what to build and why.
  • Track record of shipping products with engineering and design teams and measuring their impact.
  • Fluency with experimentation and funnel metrics, including conversion, activation, and retention, and comfort pulling data independently.
  • Regular use of AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT for research, writing, analysis, prototyping, and other work, with an interest in finding new applications.
  • Ability to learn quickly, respond well to feedback, stay steady when priorities change, and raise problems early.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills and comfort working with a distributed team.
  • Passion for getting more people outside.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces, including supply and demand dynamics, pricing, or trust and safety.
  • Background in travel, outdoor, or hospitality products.

  • Develop a deep understanding of campers or hosts through conversations, support tickets, reviews, and research, and use those insights to inform product decisions.
  • Set goals and metrics for the product area and work with the data partner to run experiments, interpret results, and determine what to build next.
  • Use AI tools in research, writing, data analysis, prototyping, and improving team workflows, and apply AI-oriented thinking to product features.
  • Partner with Marketing, Growth, Host Success, Supply Operations, and Support to ship changes that move the business.
  • Collaborate with other Product Managers so changes on one side of the marketplace strengthen the other.
