About The Position

Healthie is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the billing and payments domain, focusing on customer-facing elements like invoices, statements, balances, payments, and refunds, as well as the underlying ledger. The role involves building a billing system that serves care delivery, ensuring clarity for both practices and patients. This is a strategic, multi-year initiative to create a comprehensive financial lifecycle management system within Healthie, from coverage confirmation to final payment collection. The product manager will own the user experience for patients paying bills and for billers managing accounts, aiming to make Healthie the system of record for practice finances. This role also requires building strong relationships with third-party financial ecosystem partners. The position is ideal for someone who thrives on complex problems with significant details, where foundational correctness has long-term compounding effects. Healthie emphasizes AI-enabled and AI-accelerated development practices.

Requirements

At least 5 years in product management.
2 or more years owning billing, payments, ledger, or other systems with financial or regulatory consequences.
Experience shipping products that move or account for money (e.g., billing, invoicing, payments, subscriptions, marketplace payouts, accounting integrations).
Understanding of concepts like refund logic, reconciliation, and precise balance definition.
Experience owning a product roadmap and making prioritization decisions based on evidence and user research.
Strong systems thinking, with an ability to identify edge cases and reason about system failures.
Technical fluency, including reading API documentation and discussing design trade-offs with engineers.
AI fluency, including using modern AI tools and identifying their errors.
Decisiveness, with the ability to act on incomplete information and state assumptions.
Experience with sequencing product development, including delivering value from foundational rewrites or migrations before completion.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to defend recommendations and change them based on sound arguments.

Nice To Haves

Healthcare billing exposure (e.g., patient responsibility, superbills, working with revenue cycle teams).
Experience with modern payment infrastructure like Stripe, Adyen, or Plaid, including disputes, refunds, payouts, and reconciliation.
Experience designing consumer-facing checkout, bill-pay, or statement experiences that improved collection rates.
Familiarity with double-entry accounting concepts or experience building products that have undergone financial audits.
Experience building billing or payments products on an API or platform.

Own the product strategy and roadmap for billing, payments, invoices, statements, balances, and refunds.
Ensure patients can easily understand and pay their bills.
Enable billers to reconcile accounts efficiently and answer patient inquiries without excessive system hopping.
Provide practice owners with clear insights into their cash position.
Develop a billing experience that supports new care models, including episodes of care and value-based arrangements.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with third-party financial ecosystem partners.
Make critical, long-term product decisions that will impact the platform for years to come.
Reason from first principles about how money-moving systems work and fail, focusing on correctness and financial/regulatory consequences.
Collaborate with engineering teams on technical design and trade-offs.
Leverage AI-powered development tools and promote AI-assisted engineering practices.
