OpenArt AI•San Carlos, CA
•$200,000 - $350,000•Hybrid

About The Position

OpenArt is hiring a Senior Product Designer focused on growth for its AI creative platform. The designer will shape the experiences that guide visitors into becoming creators and customers, including onboarding, first-run experiences, paywalls, upgrade prompts, pricing, credits, and checkout. The role spans initial concepts, tested experiments, and integrating winning variants into the permanent product. The designer will help users reach a satisfying first result, make the value of plans and credits easy to understand, and teach users what is possible through timely product experiences. They will translate business goals into design hypotheses, partner with growth product managers and data teams to run and interpret experiments, and build reusable design patterns. OpenArt values ownership, curiosity, collaboration, openness, and human-centered design. The role is based in the Bay Area and may be on-site or hybrid, with high collaboration with founders and a global engineering team.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience using design to move a revenue or activation metric, such as onboarding, paywalls, pricing, or checkout, with before-and-after results.
  • Experiment literacy, including hypotheses, variants, sample sizes, and honest interpretation of results.
  • Strong UI craft and ability to produce polished design variants quickly.
  • Uses AI in their daily practice, such as code prototyping, Claude, Figma Make, or similar tools, and has informed opinions about where it helps.
  • Data-curious and interested in understanding experiment outcomes.
  • Bias toward shipping and learning from real tests.
  • Able to collaborate with product managers and marketing and contribute a design point of view early.
  • Steady when experiments do not succeed and able to treat losses as information.
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining why a design change may improve conversion.
  • Able to work in a weekly experiment cadence without sacrificing craft.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience owning onboarding, pricing, or paywalls at a consumer or prosumer product.
  • Excitement about creators, storytelling, and helping people make their first creation with AI.

Responsibilities

  • Own and design onboarding, first-run experiences, paywalls, upgrade prompts, pricing, credits, and checkout from concept through tested experiments.
  • Design the first five minutes of the user experience to help people reach a first result they are proud of, tailored to what they came to create.
  • Translate business goals such as activation, conversion, expansion, and retention into design hypotheses.
  • Design and interpret experiments with growth product managers and data partners, then iterate based on results.
  • Make pricing, plans, and credits clear and understandable for individual and team buyers.
  • Teach users what matters through timely product experiences rather than relying on a manual.
  • Turn successful experiment variants into permanent product experiences consistent with OpenArt and build reusable patterns.
  • Partner early with product managers and marketing, communicate the rationale for design changes, and share work for feedback.
  • Write product copy and design user experiences such as empty states.
