Lead Principal Product Manager

Oracle•Seattle, WA

About The Position

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is building capabilities that connect laboratory instruments, robotics, scientific applications, and cloud services. The Senior Principal Product Manager will lead product direction for laboratory automation and robotics, initially serving strategic scientific customers while developing capabilities that can support additional laboratories and workflows. This senior individual-contributor role owns product strategy, customer discovery, roadmap, and outcomes for a complex technical product area. The role works independently across engineering, applied science, design, customer teams, and automation partners to translate laboratory needs into a credible product and investment plan. It combines detailed understanding of physical workflows with commercial judgment to build a repeatable offering. The position defines product vision, strategy, roadmap, requirements, and investment recommendations; leads product work from discovery through pilot, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement; shapes integrations and onboarding for laboratory equipment and software; and partners with engineering, scientific, customer, and commercial teams. It also develops market insight, positioning, adoption plans, business cases, value propositions, packaging and pricing recommendations, and deployment models. The role measures scientific and operational outcomes and represents product strategy to executives, customers, and partners.

  • Own product definition from discovery through pilot, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish pilot scope, acceptance criteria, success measures, and evidence needed to recommend further investment.
  • Define requirements for coordinating instruments, robots, materials, scientific applications, and human activities, including equipment state, resource availability, access, approvals, monitoring, exception handling, traceability, and recovery while preserving local equipment control and safety authority.
  • Shape reusable integration and onboarding requirements for laboratory instruments, liquid handlers, robotic systems, vendor software, laboratory information management systems, and electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Distinguish common product capabilities from customer configuration and custom integration work.
  • Partner with engineering leaders and architects on scope and sequencing, and resolve tradeoffs across customer value, technical feasibility, safety, security, reliability, cost, and delivery time.
  • Coordinate shared requirements with the product owner for scientific computing and genomics.
  • Define useful applications of AI and agents in laboratory workflows with applied scientists and engineers, including requirements for evaluation, human oversight, and measurable scientific and operational benefit.
