About The Position

Grace Chinese Alliance Church (GCAC), located in Brooklyn’s Chinatown in New York City, is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor. Working with the Governing Board, the pastor will provide overall oversight of the church and primary leadership for its Cantonese-speaking ministry. GCAC is a Christian & Missionary Alliance church focused on Jesus and fulfilling the Great Commission. Founded in 1988, the church serves the Sunset Park community and participates in local and worldwide mission. Its Chinese and English congregations work together in worship, discipleship, evangelism, ministries, and fellowship, with combined weekly attendance of approximately 100–120.

The Senior Pastor will discern and lead the church’s vision with the Governing Board; oversee the spiritual welfare, growth, and life of the church; serve as primary preacher for the Cantonese ministry; oversee pulpit ministries, worship-service role assignments, staff, and congregational care; and maintain communication and relationships within the congregation and wider community. The position is accountable to the Governing Board and, as a licensed official worker, to the District Superintendent. Licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance is required.

Requirements

• Fluency in Cantonese and English for preaching.
• Master’s or doctoral degree from a Christian & Missionary Alliance-approved seminary.
• Ordination and at least five years of pastoral experience.
• Clear pastoral calling, with gifts in preaching, teaching, and exhortation.
• Commitment and enthusiasm for evangelism, discipleship, caring, and visitation.
• Licensed with The Christian & Missionary Alliance or eligible for licensing; the position requires Alliance licensing.

• Conversational fluency in Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Discern God’s vision for GCAC with the Governing Board and lead the church in that direction.
• Oversee the spiritual welfare, growth, and life of the church, including discipleship, evangelism, and equipping the congregation for service.
• Serve as the primary preacher for the Cantonese ministry and oversee all pulpit ministries.
• Work with the Worship Department to oversee worship-service roles, arrangements, and delegation.
• Oversee church staff and lead them in alignment with the church’s mission, vision, and core values.
• Conduct regular and annual staff performance evaluations, incorporating input from others as appropriate.
• Oversee congregational care ministries and ensure members have access to spiritual support and guidance.
• Maintain strong written and oral communication and relationships within the congregation and broader community.
• Participate in regular and annual performance evaluations with the Governing Board.
