Senior Pastor

U.S. Church Ministries•Tempe, AZ

About The Position

Metro-Phoenix Chinese Alliance Church in Tempe, Arizona, is seeking a Senior Pastor to provide spiritual leadership and guide the congregation through a season of transition and growth. The church launched in November 1982 and has served the Cantonese-speaking immigrant community from Hong Kong for more than 40 years. Sunday worship averages approximately 50 people, with 35 current members. About 90% of the congregation came from Hong Kong and speaks Cantonese; approximately half can also understand and converse in Mandarin and English. The congregation is close-knit, with many members having known one another for more than 30 years. Current ministries include family small groups, a sister group, a mothers' group, an elderly fellowship, a gentlemen's coffee gathering, prayer meetings, Bible studies, and developing evangelistic Bible studies and discipleship opportunities. The church maintains relationships with area churches and pastors and participates in evangelistic events, Vacation Bible School, outreach activities, and community service. Its future goals include developing an English-speaking congregation, especially reaching second-generation Chinese families and beginning ministry with pre-teens. The church is investing in youth ministry training and working toward establishing an Elder Board for long-term leadership and planning. The Senior Pastor will provide vision and leadership, preach and teach the Word of God, develop lay leaders, foster discipleship and evangelism, provide pastoral care, and guide ministries for families and younger generations. The pastor will help develop English-language ministry, oversee worship and ministry programs, collaborate with church leadership, support missions, participate in community relationships, and promote biblical conflict resolution and congregational unity. The position requires licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance. The church intends to provide compensation appropriate to the pastor's training, experience, and ministry responsibilities. Specific compensation amounts and benefit details will be determined during the call process. Applicants should submit an application including their testimony, resume, and other relevant background information. If the district office identifies a potential match after reviewing the application, the hiring manager will contact the candidate about next steps. Applicants are asked not to contact the church directly.
