About The Position

The Senior Operations Engineer for NexTier Power Solutions provides facility- and field-facing technical support for integrated well completions, with a focus on CNG fueling. The role applies operational experience, technical knowledge, and leadership to support equipment commissioning and reliability, maintenance planning, engineered solutions, field personnel training, project management, and job quality throughout the district. The engineer also provides onsite support to customers and field teams and helps troubleshoot issues across operations and the NexHub.

The position includes supporting HSE practices, job risk analysis, continual improvement, and customer satisfaction. The engineer investigates equipment or job problems, monitors field trials and their data, and uses Equipment Health Monitoring and other technologies to improve equipment reliability and detect potential failures. The role also involves mentoring less experienced operators and engineers, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and assisting with field rig-up and rig-down as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 2–3 years of oil and gas experience.
• Technical Handbook training, data acquisition software training, basic frac knowledge, and basic math and computer skills training are required.
• Completion of assigned EDP training is required.
• Ability to analyze problems by considering alternatives and systematically rejecting unacceptable alternatives.
• Professional interaction with onsite customer representatives and internal management.
• Cooperates with others, treats them with dignity and respect, and values their contributions.
• Makes decisions using analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
• Extensive knowledge of NexTier policies and procedures and manual skills.

Nice To Haves

• Gas compression or gas handling experience.
• 0–6 months of natural gas experience (listed as preferred work experience).

Responsibilities

• Review job designs before every rig-up.
• Serve as the subject-matter expert on NexTier CNG equipment.
• Commission CNG equipment before field deployment.
• Project-manage equipment enhancements, retrofits, and facility upgrades.
• Develop training documentation and help distribute it to CNG personnel.
• Assess CNG personnel on training documentation.
• Troubleshoot issues with operations and the NexHub.
• Use Fiix expertise to assist operations with maintenance planning.
• Set up the PRS to stream data for jobs that require it.
• Provide onsite technical support to customers and field operations teams, including supporting supervisors throughout all phases of a job.
• Participate in well-site job risk analysis and continual improvement programs that affect client satisfaction.
• Promote HSE values, follow NexTier safety policies and standard operating procedures, and implement field equipment best practices.
• Investigate and evaluate job problems or failures and provide solutions and feedback.
• Monitor field trials and analyze related data to determine success or failure.
• Use Equipment Health Monitoring and other technologies to improve equipment reliability and proactively detect potential failures.
• Apply sound engineering principles on the job and suggest or make changes and corrections as required.
• Help maintain CNG equipment cleanliness and assist field operations with rig-up and rig-down as needed.
• Mentor less experienced operators and engineers.
• Perform other assigned job duties.
