The Media Planner role involves assisting with daily client media plan and budget operations, including flowcharts and budget trackers, ensuring timely Media Authorizations. This role also includes monitoring industry trends, reporting on media plan performance, and tracking competitive activity to identify insights and opportunities for the team and clients.

Requirements

  • Experience planning or buying, with developing acumen in the cross-channel media marketplace and planning essentials (delivery levels, flighting, etc.), including Video/Audio Broadcast/Streaming, Direct and Addressable Digital, Social Media, Retail Media (if applicable), Print, OOH, etc.
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while maintaining high attention to detail, manage time effectively, and demonstrate superb organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to think on your feet.
  • Strong mathematical abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of DCM, Prisma, comScore, MRI.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to supported markets or client events.
  • 2+ years of media planning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Attend client status meetings, take notes, summarize next steps, and obtain Supervisor/Manager approval before distributing action items.
  • Build relationships with internal teams such as Partnership Investments, Audience Science, Campaign Insights, Insights + Action, Radical + Disruptive, and other specialty teams.
  • Monitor client and marketing industry trades, media plan performance reports, and competitive activity to identify and share industry updates, performance insights, and opportunities.
  • Support 1-2 accounts based on their scale, complexity, and scope of deliverables.
  • Research and develop media plan scenarios for assigned clients.
  • Collaborate with Local Investments, Kinesso, and Partnership Investments on partner lists, RFP details, and evaluation before client recommendations.
  • Assist with presentation development, including research, check-ins, discussion participation, and slide preparation/writing.
  • Partner with the analytics team to implement measurement objectives and taxonomy.
  • Support campaign implementation, execution, QA, monitoring, optimization, and reporting.
  • Utilize the IGNITE planning strategy process for robust business and media role analysis.
  • Visualize, summarize, and develop insights and implications for competitive reporting.
  • Gather, organize, and present competitive research and spending data.
  • Use planning tools (e.g., Kismet, R/F) to determine the optimal media mix and plan delivery.
  • Apply media math and calculations, demonstrating proficiency in working with numbers.
  • Maintain updated costs and media plan details in Media Tools or client flowchart software.
  • Confirm client media authorization approval for Partner Investments and Kinesso to set up buys, issue Insertion Orders, reconcile buys, and traffic assets.
  • Assist with the Billing Process, update team status documents, and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (Video Investments, R&D Labs, creative, etc.).
  • Ensure familiarity with Insights + Action and Radical + Disruptive capabilities to support integration into media plans.
  • Contribute ideas for creative media tactics.
  • Participate in a diverse, inclusive, and creative culture.
  • Collaborate with peers to share work and inspire junior team members regarding creative thinking, accountability, and thought leadership.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge of junior team members and supervise, advise, and counsel direct reports.
