About The Position

At General Dynamics Mission Systems, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer serves as the primary engineering presence on the production floor, providing real-time technical support, resolving manufacturing issues, and helping ensure production continuity. The engineer develops and maintains manufacturing plans, work instructions, routings, and process documentation, and collaborates with Design Engineering, Program Management, and Quality Assurance to improve producibility and reduce costs across assigned programs. The position is the go-to engineering resource for second-shift production operations. Work includes supporting manufacturing processes and fabrication methods, applying lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices, and using solid-modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings. The role also involves supporting design-for-manufacturability and design-to-cost efforts, installing manufacturing process systems, and conducting qualification, feasibility studies, and testing for new or modified designs. This position is onsite at the location specified in the posting. U.S. citizenship is required because of the nature of the work. A Secret security clearance is preferred at hire; the candidate must be able to obtain one within a reasonable time after hire and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
