About The Position

The Senior Managing Consultant SAP Data Migration leads data migration strategy, planning, technical delivery, testing, validation, and post-migration support. The role assesses and prepares legacy data, defines cleansing and validation rules, coordinates ETL and data mapping to SAP, and safeguards data integrity, security, and compliance throughout migration. It also works closely with business stakeholders, project managers, SAP consultants, developers, and data architects to align migration activities with project timelines, business requirements, metadata strategy, and logical data models. The consultant leads and mentors data migration specialists and analysts, communicates progress and issues to stakeholders, documents migration processes and lessons learned, and identifies improvements to migration practices. The position requires SAP experience, including SAP FI/CO, MM, SD, or PM and Master Data, along with experience in complex SAP environments and SAP Master Data Governance (MDG). The job can be performed from anywhere in the US.

Requirements

Hands-on experience identifying, assessing, and solving complex business problems, including in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Experience collaborating with data owners and users or analysts across customer operations to improve data governance and the quality and consistency of data used for business decisions.
Experience working with Data Architects to synchronize changes with the metadata strategy and logical data model.
Experience leading technical delivery of SAP Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and related components, aligning business and technology teams.
Experience with SAP FI/CO, MM, SD, or PM and Master Data is required.
Three years of experience in Master Data Management, with expertise implementing SAP Master Data Governance (MDG).
Experience supporting complex SAP environments.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the data migration strategy and plan.
Define the scope, objectives, and deliverables of data migration activities.
Coordinate data migration tasks with project managers and overall project timelines.
Identify and manage data migration risks.
Assess the quality and readiness of legacy data for migration.
Define data cleansing, enrichment, and validation rules.
Coordinate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes and data mapping from legacy systems to SAP.
Work with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and validation criteria.
Coordinate with SAP consultants, developers, and other technical teams to implement migration tools and processes.
Communicate migration progress, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders.
Oversee the design, development, and execution of data migration programs and scripts.
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency during migration, and monitor and troubleshoot migration activities.
Define and execute migration test plans, including unit, integration, and user acceptance tests.
Validate migrated data against business and regulatory requirements and coordinate post-migration verification with business users.
Create and maintain documentation of migration processes, data mapping, transformation rules, and validation criteria.
Generate status reports and document lessons learned and best practices.
Provide training and support to business users and assist with user manuals and training materials.
Provide post-migration support for data-related issues.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies, and implement data security measures.
Maintain data confidentiality and integrity throughout the migration process.
Identify opportunities to improve migration processes and methodologies, stay current with SAP migration tools and technologies, and implement best practices and industry standards.
Lead and mentor data migration specialists and analysts, foster a collaborative working environment, and support team members.
Collaborate with data owners and users or analysts across customer operations to modify or implement repeatable, reliable business processes that improve data governance, quality, and consistency.
Work closely with Data Architects to synchronize changes with the metadata strategy and logical data model.
