About The Position

ID.me is seeking a Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting & Billing Operations to lead their revenue and billing functions as the company prepares for an IPO. This is a hands-on "builder" role focused on improving and scaling the billing and revenue infrastructure. The position involves owning the entire order-to-cash cycle, from deal structuring and booking to revenue recognition, invoicing, and collections. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with usage-based billing models and a track record of automating processes. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact the company's financial systems and reporting, with the autonomy to design and implement improvements. The position requires a proactive approach, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with leadership. The role also involves managing a team of three and contributing to the overall accounting team's growth and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience
  • At least 2 years directly managing accounting staff
  • Deep expertise in ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition
  • Direct, hands-on experience recognizing revenue in a usage-based or consumption-based billing model (variable consideration, minimums and overages, tiered pricing, true-ups)
  • Demonstrated ownership of an end-to-end billing or order-to-cash process
  • Track record of delivering accounting automation (specific processes identified, designed, and shipped with measurable reduction in manual effort or close time)
  • Experience working directly with Revenue Operations, Salesforce administrators, or Data/Engineering teams on data quality, system configuration, or data pipelines
  • Advanced proficiency with financial systems (NetSuite, NetSuite ARM, Salesforce)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including comfort working with large data sets
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to drive accounting process improvement
  • Proactive operator — brings problems forward with a proposed solution, and is willing to get into the detail to prove it works
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical accounting and systems issues for non-accounting stakeholders and leadership

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end revenue and billing cycle, including deal booking, contract intake, usage data capture, invoicing, collections support, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and AR across all verticals and product lines.
  • Own revenue recognition for usage-based arrangements, including variable consideration, minimum commitments and overages, tiered and volume pricing, true-ups, and breakage, and author ASC 606 memos.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including journal entries, reconciliations, ASC 606 revenue sub-ledger, revenue-by-customer/vertical schedules, and month-over-month fluctuation analysis.
  • Own billing accuracy and timeliness across verticals, including invoice preparation and review, customer billing inquiries, dispute resolution, and collections partnership.
  • Support external audits as the primary revenue and billing point of contact, and lead revenue-related SOX and IPO readiness efforts.
  • Lead the accounting automation roadmap for revenue and billing, identifying manual processes, building business cases, and delivering automation.
  • Automate billing end-to-end for every vertical, replacing manual processes with systematic, auditable, scalable solutions.
  • Partner with the Senior Director to optimize the finance tool stack (NetSuite, NetSuite ARM, Salesforce, Snowflake, Sigma, Closing tool).
  • Apply AI tools (Claude) to revenue, billing, and close workflows, and serve as a subject matter expert for AI adoption.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations and the Salesforce team to enforce data hygiene at the source, defining required fields, validation rules, and booking standards.
  • Partner with the Data team to own billing data integrity and efficiency, including usage data completeness and accuracy, and reconciliation between source systems and the billing engine.
  • Build the data structure needed for consistent customer, product, vertical, and contract dimensions to enable automatic reporting and analysis.
  • Review deal structures with Sales, Revenue Operations, and Legal before close to ensure upfront settlement of recognition and billing treatment.
  • Manage and develop the revenue team, setting priorities, raising the technical bar, and building a scalable function.
  • Be a thought leader for the broader accounting team, bringing ideas for close, controls, and reporting, and owning execution.
  • Be a team player, supporting peers and stepping in where needed.
  • Own revenue accounting and billing policy, keeping it current with new accounting standards, pricing models, and business lines.
