About The Position

CircleCI is seeking a Senior Manager, Brand Marketing to lead the company’s brand into its next chapter as the software development landscape changes. This is a strategic individual-contributor role on the Content team, reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. The role works closely with Content and Visual Design, which together serve as an in-house agency for the broader marketing organization. The company is investing in brand and provides a focused budget and leadership support. The role will shape brand strategy, positioning, and narrative; guide the company’s voice across global marketing touchpoints; and steward important copy, writing major pieces and providing a final review on high-impact work. It will enable marketers and writers through guidelines, examples, and coaching, while partnering creatively with Visual Design. The role also requires learning the product, company, and developer audience, managing brand resources and external partners, and tracking brand health through measures such as branded search, share of voice, developer sentiment, and AI-generated answers about CircleCI.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in brand, product marketing, or creative marketing.
  • Excellent writing demonstrated through work samples, including the ability to write precise technical explanations and concise headlines while maintaining a consistent voice.
  • Experience guiding an established brand through a period of change.
  • Experience enabling a distributed content model through guidelines, examples, and coaching.
  • Experience with positioning and messaging, including presenting both to executives.
  • Experience influencing partners across a matrixed company and building a brand with focused resources.
  • A track record of writing that improves measurable outcomes such as web conversion, pipeline growth, and campaign performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Empathy for software developers and an understanding of what matters to them.
  • Ability to use AI as a tool and judge when its output does not meet the mark.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to advocate for ideas, accept better alternatives, and bring others along.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience marketing to B2B, developer, or technical audiences.
  • Agency experience, or enthusiasm for working with many internal clients, quick turnarounds, and shared credit.
  • Coding experience is optional.

Responsibilities

  • Shape CircleCI’s brand strategy, positioning, and narrative as the company and software development landscape evolve.
  • Own the company’s market positioning and carry its story across global touchpoints, including the homepage, web experience, events, sales communications, and paid advertising.
  • Measure the impact of brand and voice through conversion rates and other measurable results.
  • Serve as the final reviewer for high-impact copy, including campaign concepts, launch headlines, and sales decks, and write major pieces.
  • Enable writers across marketing through guidelines, examples, and coaching, while reviewing work selectively rather than rewriting everything.
  • Partner with Visual Design from initial concepts through execution, contributing to brainstorms and providing constructive feedback.
  • Learn the product, company, developers, and competitive landscape by engaging with employees and developer communities, then share relevant insights with the team.
  • Create usable brand guidelines and assets that help teams apply the brand independently.
  • Manage the brand budget, agencies, and freelancers.
  • Track brand health, including branded search, share of voice, developer sentiment, and the accuracy of AI assistants’ answers about CircleCI; report findings and adjust accordingly.
